Respirator Fit Testing Workshop
Workplace Hygiene's Respirator Fit Testing Workshop provides those conducting or overseeing fit-testing with the knowledge and techniques necessary to successfully conduct qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing.
The course combines lecture and hands-on activities so that attendees learn to properly conduct fit testing according to the OSHA protocols. A review of the requirements of the OSHA respiratory protection standard (29 CFR 1910.134) is included, with focus on those issues pertaining to fit-testing and respirator selection.
Qualitative fit-testing protocols that are covered include:
- Bitrex
- Saccharin mist
- Isoamyl acetate (banana oil)
- Irritant smoke

Students will learn to conduct quantitative fit testing using the TSI PortaCount Plus.
The Greensboro Area Health Education Center has awarded 0.66 CEU (6.6 contact hours) to participants attending this entire activity.
